@Spovid fine. its an alternate adaptation. a retelling, a reimagining. call it whatever you want. its a safe reworking of an existing story thats been told. it was chosen because it has a pre-existing, built-in fanbase. its safe, not a new concept or story. im tired of stories we've already heard, but yall keep consooming.

    • Spovid
      Spovid Day ago +1

@Sliider I think you’re missing the point, making a new adaptation from the same book is NOT a remake. The IT 2017 movies were not remakes of the TV movies from the 1990s.

This looks really good! My only real complaint is that, in some scenes, it's too dark for me to make anything out and I don't know if that was intentional or not. Movie seems like it'll be better than the last few at least.

It’s worth mentioning this is the first hellraiser film to get BOTH Clive Barker AND Doug Bradley’s blessing. A rarity double whammy we haven’t seen since the second installment
I am beyond excited. This trailer is well put together as it doesn’t feel like the whole movie is being spoiled. I remember having to close out of the Halloween kills trailer 30 seconds in because I felt like every kill was being shown
I’ve rewatched this trailer at least 30 times and I’m obsessed with the visuals. I’m finding something new every second and it’s just getting the film theories running crazy thru my head!!!
My friends are already quoting pinheads “what is it you pray for” line
Besides art the clown, no other horror has gotten the horror movie geek me this excited
I will most likely be watching this movie 100 times 😂😂

@Ricky Alvarez lol it's just staying true to the books. If you have a problem with it then take it up with the one who wrote it. Being alittle snowflake about alittle femininity isn't gonna change anything

    • Andrew James
      Andrew James 13 hours ago

@Ricky Alvarez because it is a more feminine ish version. Which isn't bad since in the books he had alot of feminine qualities anyway. Wasn't really truly 100% masculine or feminine in how he was presented. The movies however made him more masculine

Now, give us a remake of pumpkinhead. Now, that is a really really scary film, just the look and feel of it especially the original one. With all these horror franchises being remade or having sequels, I'd love to see pumpkinhead have a modern day remake. The producers of this film should go and make a remake of pumpkinhead next.

This Hellraiser seems to do right everything the 2010 Nightmare On Elm Street did wrong. The character known as Pinhead in the movies was described as being "genderless, though described as having a feminine voice." in the novels by Clive Barker. As great as Doug Bradley was in the role, it looks like this version went in the right direction. This looks way better than anything we've had since Hellraiser II.

I hope they don't mess up the Cenobites like the sequels did. I love the fact that they are this horrifying thing that is still, somehow, True Neutral. Later on they became lame slasher monsters but originally they weren't there to slaughter and kill and maim; they were there to welcome the people who called them and the "sights they have to show" were ones they gladly inflicted on themselves. It really made them next level.

When I heard they were doing a reboot and given the history of reboots I just kind of rolled my eyes. Now that the trailer showed I feel more optimistic about the movie. Now it will never replace the original movie, or the actor that played pinhead, but I like the feel of the cenobites and the new pin head, and the direction Barker went by sticking with the original eerie theme of the movie. Also, the movie appears not to be focused on CGI to obtain all of its effects, which is a huge plus and a throwback to how films use to be made.

One of the truly terrifying aspects of the cenobites is that they are summoned by their victims. In the books you see the depraved to the curious all playing with fire. Unlike other horror these victims sought out an experience that was to much for them. What’s scary is it’s such a human trait.

    • Calvin Bethea
      Calvin Bethea 15 minutes ago

@CURSED GAMING one of the things I like about Clive Barker’s writing compared to Stephen King’s is his victims are very human. In Stephen’s horror bad things happen to nice unsuspecting people. In Clive’s books the protagonist have some agency they are following dark impulses or passions that lead to these situations, their human and flawed. So it’s not just classic Disney-esque good vs evil, but a flawed human seeking to transcend their baser instincts to achieve a greater good or simply survive. And that is very relatable to the messy complex gray world we live in.

Well to be fair, it's like seeing a rubicks cube and wanting to solve it, especially if you're interested in that sort of thing. There's really no way to know it's cursed, maybe from hints and tales of old, but at the same time you don't know whether or not it's accurate. You'd have to have one hell of an intuition and wild imagination to figure it out, and stop yourself from doing it. It Just seems random and coincidental to me 🤷🏾‍♂️, it could literally happen to anyone.

One of the truly terrifying aspects of the cenobites is that they are summoned by their victims. In the books you see the depraved to the curious all playing with fire. Unlike other horror these victims sought out an experience that was to much for them. What’s scary is it’s such a human trait.

The Cenobites actually look pretty creative, wasn’t expecting that. They changed it enough to give it a new spin without overdoing it. Looks pretty good. Wishmaster reboot, when?

@POSSIBLY INSANE They are from another dimension, they exist parallel to our own. There, but not there. The puzzle box, or Lamarchand's puzzle is the portal to their world. Where torture of the flesh is reverred as the truest height of pleasure and delight. Picture an S&M's most dangerous physical act, but literally multiplied by 1000. Of course no human can withstand such mutiliation, and thus if you do happen to ever unlock the world of a Cenobite, you are gifted eternal life.....eternal life so you can *withstand* the eternal torment of their twisted offering.
Whilst Stephen King is no doubt a master of depicting real life horror with a twist of the supernatural, Clive Barker is on an entirely different wavelength, as his crafting of humans with otherworldly interaction is simply fantastic

As many have said, this should be in theaters. I don't normally watch modern horror movies because they're not my thing (give me a good slasher). But this looks a lot like the original. And the makeup is beautiful.

Hellraiser: Bloodline was the last Hellraiser film that I really enjoyed watching, it was also the last one produced by Clive Barker up until this new film. That being said, I look forward to seeing what this new movie has to offer.
Maybe next we will get a sequel or a reboot to Nightbreed and/or Lord of Illusions 🤞

Okay, I can like this. I've like all of the other Hellraisers except for 9 and 10. It looks like the labyrinth is being featured which is awesome if they show it more than what they did if I remember right in Hellraiser 2 and 3.

The book literally shows that it's not the Lament configuration. It's the Lazarus configuration. The guy who owns it is probably either trying to resurrect someone or keep himself from dying.
It's the same puzzle box for sure, but it's in one of its six other configurations. I bet we'll see them all. Leviathan was already teased.

I find the new design rather impressive. They really overhauled the design from a simply cube that sort of popped up and turned to whatever kind of shape this is..
It really looks like a key to hell now.

I love how they made the lead cenobite or "Pinhead" genderless, now I usually am very annoyed when it comes to identity politics but in the one specific case it works even better, in The Hellbound Heart novella Pinhead is described without a name and as being so mutilated and a voice so distorted recognizing it ad either male or female is impossible, im very excited to see how this plays out

    • Lawrence Newman
      Lawrence Newman 3 days ago

When you put it like that, the actor playing pinhead is perfect as he's as mutilated and freaky IRL as pinhead himself

I agree. It was always weird to me that solving a box led to a hellish dimension of exquisite torture and pleasure. It makes more sense to make them really want to experience pain while solving it for what’s to come
