That blows my mind that it took him so long to be accepted to be aloud to sell his corn at a fair! When I was about 7 years old I literally asked for nothing but corn on the cob for my birthday, and that year was probably the best birthday I ever had, and I was not a deprived child one bit. We sat in our backyard under our giant tree and ate corn on the cob for hours it seems. But a lot of good hours! Next to a corn dog and fair Taffy, a roasted corn would be on the first 3 on my list to have to get at the fair. I love mine on a fire but on a barbecue is almost as good and definitely worth paying for over anything else.

Binging Sonny's channel. Out of all my subscriptions to food shows, cake decorating, etc, this is my favorite show by far. I've learned so much just watching your travels and have added seasonings from around the world from watching the locals using it and You describing the taste.
We love to eat through the vendors at fairs, seafood festivals, chili cook offs, German & Irish festivals, mmm, & my favorite - Ren fest faire.
Oh yeah, The huge turkey legs are the best and sell for $7 at the MD Renaissance festival. It's our 14 year olds favorite meat on a stick, lol. Pumpkin chunkin & Ren festivals are the main places that sell the jumbo turkey legs around here.

@Spoiler Alert this place is definitely over priced compared to my State. Our jumbo smoked turkey legs are $7 and the best you'll ever eat. The big tub of french fries is $10, corn is $3, so Minnesota is extremely overpriced. We don't have to outsource our food though and grow it local or raise it locally.
When you go to any of these faires or festivals of all kinds of foods around the USA, take a wallet full of money & get you some cotton candy. Candied apple, a big soft salted pretzel with mustard, a jumbo smoked turkey leg, funnel cake, crab cakes as long as it's on the East Coast and made of lump jumbo crab meat & no filler, corn fritters, sausage & peppers, cinnamon sugared pecans, macaroni & cheese balls, chicken & waffle, beef hot dog with kraut, mustard, chili, cheese, onion on toasted roll, and enjoy each bite. Stay away from the carny rides & stick to the food & games if you have children.

Wild that people had to be convinced to have sweet corn at a fair? I'm not from the states but I'm in the UK from an area with a significant Caribbean population and the local street fair we had ALWAYS had grilled corn, I assumed it was a fair staple. Loved your channel and the presentation so funny but at the same time who would have thought there were so many varieties of food, terrific, thanks for sharing!

Most of the weird food is like, "Burger, but add sugar" or "desert, but deepfry".
45:43 As for the fried cheese curds I'm pretty sure you could follow a very similar process with soybeans to create tofu like equivalent product. Basically a vegan variant of cheese curds known as bean curds and you can make these bean curds/tofu from various other types of beans.
There may be no limitations to bean curds, you could fry them add some sweetness to them (aka fried tofu with powdery sugar). Add some spiciness to the bean curds during the process of making them.
Don't want to use bean curds, but still want to do stuff with some beans? Now introducing "Falafels" (aka fried beanballs), this is where you could really go nuts with the beanball recipe. You could even possibly make the "beans on a stick" stand with a solid fried Falafel recipe.

God dammit. Now I'm seriously going to have to make my own Gy-Ravioli. Ever since I was a little, little kid, I fell in love with Gyros. It was the first time I had ever even eaten onions and I've been hooked ever since. My grandma would take me to 2 county fairs and the state fair each summer (which is where I first had a gyro) specifically for those and elephant ears. When a small Greek place opened up in our local mall, she and I would go there at least 2-3 times per week. I literally alternated between getting a gyro or chicken teriyaki/soba every time we went. In fact, we were there so frequently that both of the two shops would frequently give us a free meal. And it just reminds of the time where the mall was virtually uninhabited and both vendors actually each gave us a full order without us ordering or asking for anything. When I think about those times, it makes me really sad that my kids never got to meet her but grateful that I somehow inherited her kindness.
Man...why did I just spill that out from watching a Flash-Player video about fair food??

@ccggenius12 duh..... a Pepsi soda at the grocery store will be significantly cheaper than at Disney world for odvious reasons..... supply and demand.

    • daniel choloply
      daniel choloply 9 hours ago

@Juan Rodriguez Nito you odviously aren't familiar with the concept of supply and demand. Ofcourse a 20oz bottle of Pepsi will cost way more at Disney world, or a state fair than it would at your local grocery store. When ppl are walking around a hot theme park or fair, EVERYONE wants something cold to drink, and leaving the park to get a soda from a grocery store isn't realistic, so they pay more for the convenience..... just like doordash

It's a very big bucket of fries. Priced about right. A large fry from Popeyes is $5 for a box of fries, this is easily three times the size.
