All we need. One season. Each episode opens with a stars member in the interrogation room being asked about the mansion incident and giving their recollection of it. You could do Jill’s campaign in Jill’s episode, Chris in his, zero for Rebecca’s episode, explain how Barry was manipulated in his. Show the corruption from within the RPD and their workings with umbrella and then go straight into RE2. It’s not hard guys Christ

Not a bad idea at all. Sadly these writers most likely never touched a resident evil game their whole life. The most research they done was probably watching youtube clips.

Tf you mean it isn't hard, you literally did NOTHING that the people funding these shows want. You didn't race swap anyone, no ones gay, and you're not even trying to push a political narrative. You wouldn't make it to the drawing board.

Detective, a bit colored-noir-esque, meeting the horror in the eyes of the team, the mistery, the doubt, the tentacles of umbrella on the media, the city...it's depressing how Netflix screws every good piece of good story telling out there...

    • Dausen Moore
      Dausen Moore 15 minutes ago

@Manaka Kisaragi I think people overthink these things sometimes. A faithful adaption would be great but that doesn't mean this interpretation will be bad.

    • Manaka Kisaragi

Other than looking like a cheaper World War Z, instead of Resident Evil? Or focusing on characters that don't exist in the canon of the games as protagonists (Wesker's daughters)? Or having a post apocalyptic setting with all civilization collapsed, which is also not something in the timeline of the franchise?
You know other than having zero faithfulness to the source material and disappointing the fans, for not giving them the stories they want to see properly adapted? No problem with it at all. It's perfect outside of that.

You know the material doesn't look good, when you have long-time game fans talking bad of it.
I remember when I watched LoTR trilogy, the extended cut, in the closing credits there was a miles-long list of names in "special thanks" section and those were the names of members of various LoTR fan clubs from all over the world. It means the production crew actually bothered to consult with the actual fans when it came to deciding on how to produce the movies. Imagine if either Capcom or any of these movie/tv show directors decided to do the same thing...

    • kevin cola

@Jon B. Regarding Welcome to Raccoon City: it was somewhat faithful, but that doesn't mean it's a good film.
The CGI was pretty bad throughout and sometimes the CGI was so horrendous that it made some monsters look stupidly hilarious.
The plot was a convoluted mess in an attempt to put RE1 and RE2 into one messy film.
They screwed up most of the cast, characters didn't look like their counterparts from the games, nor did they have the same traits/personalities.
As an example, Leon doesn't do shit compared to most of the cast despite the fact that he's always been one of the most popular and badass characters in the series since RE2, they seemingly nerfed almost everything about Leon Kennedy.
Leon didn't get enough screen time because they chose to combine RE1 and RE2 into a single film. If the film was, say, around 3 hours, then maybe it would've been better.
Wesker, Chris, Jill, Claire, Leon, Barry, Ada; Too many characters to juggle for one film that doesn't even pass the 2-hour mark.
All in all, Welcome to Raccoon City is like a 5.8 out of 10 for me, it ranges from being terrible to being very mediocre.

      • *Welcome to **-Party City-** Raccoon Sh*thole (2021)*
      • *Wokeflix's Wokesident Evil (2022)*

Wonder why they suddenly pushed to rush the reboot (WtRC) AND Netflix series, just _after_ The Final Chapter? They made them only to: *secure the rights/ip* from Capcom.

Resident Evil has solid source material and it blows my mind that RE1-3 have never received an authentic, slow-paced live action adaptation. I don't get how 4 police officers trapped in a mansion in the woods with zombies, monsters, and deathtraps, all with a mystery to solve isn't worth a full season of content alone.

@WhopyStompy Not having trouble keeping up with Any of the conversations that I actually had, the issue is that I didnt have any of those conversations WITH YOU. Which conversation specifically are you attempting to piggyback off of because if i did mention the word Pandering before your comment, it Definitely Wasn't Today. How hard is it to simply name the person so that I can go back and read the context of the conversation you're talking about?

@Michel De Bruyn What are you even talking about? Two of the greatest horror movies of all time, Alien and Aliens (Aliens more so), share a lot of similarities with the remake of the first Resident Evil game. Saying ur not talking about the remake is such a cop-out as well as I think most people are when they mention re 1-3 nowdays as they are the official canon.
I'm not gonna say this series is sh*te before I've seen it but the teaser doesn't instill much confidence imo. I don't see why it's such a hard thing to make a good chronological series and then make spinoffs, there is an interesting (if a bit basic) story alr written and then they can just borrow aspects of other movies/series if they can't think of anything original themselves. The incompetence of writers in hollywood now days is just staggering and for some reason people still eat the sh*te and say thanks for the meal after.

It would be easier, if they would adapt the Resident Evil books as a series, at least there would be 7 seasons of about 10 chapters, one for each book (I think there is good material in them). The dialogues are already there and they are more faithful to the games, with the exception of the invented ones but in any case they are well set and interesting, and it would be much better than wanting to condense the games into movie format. Of course, respecting the ethnic groups of the characters (and not being politically correct), we have been seeing the characters since 1996 and if they want to be inclusive, then invent new characters; and an interesting point would be that they will use the iconic music tracks from the games. That would give it a plus.

you'd think so but they manage it every time, i don't know who develops R.E live action works but, Disney, Lucasfilm, DC & Warner do it time and time again even if it means butchering their own content. they desperately need to sit down with the guys that do Cobra Kai and learn a thing or two. If they won't listen t the fans (that literally pay their wages) maybe they'll listen to some successful industry insiders.

Between 2005-2016 Resident evil 4, 5, and 6 sold a combined 35,959,467 copies worldwide across all platforms they were on (including DLC). Add in the new resident evil 2 remake and the total jumps to almost 43 million sold.
The die hard fandom who loves the games are the audience you should target, the vast majority of your views should come from them. The rest are just periphery and bonus. If the true fans like it then they will tell their friends and family who aren’t gamers to check it out to share the love they have for the franchise. This WILL NOT happen with this garbage.
It’s not the actors faults either, I absolutely love Lance Reddick and the rest gotta get that money. I get it, and good thing they get paid upfront for Netflix stuff. But the ones who decided to make it are the ones who should be ashamed when it tanks.

Why didn't they start from the beginning? If u haven't played the games this will just be confusing. The remake of the first game would suit a survival horror series perfectly and u don't even have to have that much big cg fights etc. Prob would be a lot cheaper and safer for netflix to produce as well, it practically is a movie/series script as is. This makes no sense.
