New York already has the status as the world city. The ESB, WTC, Chrysler Building, Manhattan Bridge, even the Statue of Liberty etc... these are iconic modern places that most people on the planet recognize and creating something that can compete with these would need something more than just the height but a symbolism.

This video makes it easy to connect the dots now on why Russia doesn't care about potential sanctions with EU over the Ukraine conflict. They will be controlling trade routes and resources EU will need. Russia will only seek to gain this expanse in trade routes by trying to overtake Ukraine.

Americans are so wedded to personal transport and personal choices that railways ( sharing with strangers eeek! ) will never will stand a chance. Here in Britain and across in EU trains are everyday transport and valued. America's infrastructure problems are deeper and extend further than money. There is no longer a sense of nation and advancement as there was in its Golden Age when dams, electrification and the Golden gate were built. China has no such problems.

Look up Roald Amundsen and the Northwest Passage, which was routinely open in the 1920s. Occasionally being open in the present is not at all unusual, and far from "unprecedented". However, don't count on it being open... one wiseass who did spent last spring caught in the ice.

Great video exploring the issue. Fundamentally, American and Ukrainian saber rattling has made gas shipments to Europe tenuous and it was good for the Russians and Germany to come together and agree upon this pipeline. Trade is fundamentally good, and this pipeline will ensure that both the EU's and Russia's interests will be met.

The weird guy with the mustache may know about architecture but clearly doesn't know much about finance. Real estate on billionaire's row is in fact less liquid than a traditional real estate asset of comparable size. This is due to not only the insane price tags that only few can afford, but common need for financing on such a property
