Sigur Rós - Heima Film Trailer || http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk http://www.myspace.com/sigurros Sigur Rós break their two-year silence to release their first-ever film and a companion album later this autumn. Filmed over two weeks last summer when the band undertook a free tour of Iceland, Heima stands as a colossal labour of love - not to say grand folly - typical of this most exacting of bands. While most people set up a few cameras at, say, a festival, and call it a DVD, Sigur Rós decided they would push the boat (bus and plane) out for their debut venture into live film, hauling 40-plus people round 15 locations to the furthest flung corners of their homeland to create something, well, inspirational. On their way they went to ghost towns, outsider art shrines, national parks, small community halls and the absolute middle-of-nowhere-ness of the highland wilderness, as well as playing the largest gig of their career (and in Icelandic history) at their triumphant homecoming Reykjavik show. Heima (Icelandic for "at home" or "homeland"), truly, shows Sigur Rós as never before. Whereas seeing the group live is normally a large-scale and sometimes overwhelming experience, making full use of lights and mesmeric visuals, Heima was always intended to reveal more of what was actually going on on stage. It does this via long-held close-ups and a rare intimate proximity, without ever once breaking the spell. Loosely based on a documentary format - and including personal reflections from the band - Heima also serves as an alternative primer for Iceland the country, which is revealed as less stag destination-du-jour and more desolate, magical place where human beings have little right to trespass. Heima features performances of songs from all four Sigur Rós albums, many radically reworked, as well as two exclusive new songs in Guitardjamm, which was filmed inside an abandoned herring oil tank in the far West of the country, and the traditional A Ferd Til Breidarfjardar 1922, performed with poet Steindor Andersen. Heima was directed by Dean DeBlois, a long-time fan of the band and director of the Oscar-nominated animated feature Lilo & Stitch, using an Icelandic crew. Hvarf-Heim, the companion record, is more cousin than sister release. It has two titles because it is in effect two separate, but complementary, entities, with -- get this -- two front covers and a limited edition run of two discs. Open it one way and its Hvarf ("disappeared" orr "haven", a five track electric studio record comprising mainly unreleased rarities from Sigur Róss back-pages, none of which is on Heima. Open it the other way and its Heim ("home"), a six track acoustic record, comprising delicate new unplugged versions of some of Sigur Róss best moments, which have never been performed before. The band were originally asked to deliver a traditional live album to go with the live film, but thinking about it, with Sigur Rós that wasnt ever going to happen, and what we have here in Hvarf-Heim is infinitely more stimulating and exciting than some will-this-do? toss-offs of songs they honed to perfection in the studio aeons ago. Hvarf-Heim features three previously absolutely unreleased electric songs (Salka, Hljomalind and I Gaer) and is, anyway, wall-to-wall re-workings. Whatever way you look at it, Hvarf-Heim is a great Sigur Rós record. Heima receives its worldwide premiere on September 27th at the Icelandic Film Festival and a run of national premieres at film festivals all around the world follows including a UK premiere (full details soon to be announced). The film will then receive a nationwide UK release in selected cinemas across the UK. On November 5th Heima will be released as a Special Edition double DVD package with a 104-page book containing stunning photos from the tour. It will also be released as a standard 2-DVD set. The first disc of both packages features the Heima film, with a choice of a 5.1 surround sound or pcm stereo mix, whilst the second DVD will contain the full performances of each song in the movie amongst many other extras. Resident Evil Extinction || Resident Evil Extinction is the BEST movie I have seen in a very long time! When I saw the trailer I was like "I am going to see this movie the day and minute it goes in theaters." in which I did and it was AWESOME! After the Raccoon City Incident in 2002, the T-Virus escaped containment despite the nuclear destruction of the city. The Umbrella Corporation desperately tries to stop it from turning the entire worlds population into zombies, but after a series of viral outbreaks over the past 5 years, the world is on the verge of extinction. Alice (Milla Jovovich), Umbrellas greatest Bio-Organic Weapon, is now alone in the desert wastelands of the remains of the United States after learning that the corporation has the ability to track her location via satellite. She has super-human strength and psycho-kinetic abilities gained from her brief imprisonment by Umbrella, and because of her ability to bond with the T-virus, the corporation seeks to develop a permanent cure/vaccine to the T-Virus to save what is left of humanity. Under the orders of Umbrella chief Albert Wesker, Dr. Sam Isaacs attempts to create a cure without Alice, using clones created from her blood; the clones endure tests within a re-created Spencer Mansion, but none survive. After Alice has a brief run in with zombie dogs, she leaves for a gas station near the ruins of Las Vegas and finds a journal detailing a route to Alaska where the infection is suspected to be almost non-existent. Meanwhile, Claire Redfields (Ali Larter) convoy, which includes fellow Raccoon survivors Carlos Oliveira (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors K-Mart (Spencer Locke), Mikey (Egan) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti), search a small motel for supplies. L.J. is bitten, but does not tell Nurse Betty who checks his other wounds. The next morning a horde of infected crows begin to attack the convoy and just as it seems Carlos is about to meet his end, Alice arrives. She uses her telekinesis to utilize the flamethrower and blankets the sky in fire while also keeping the convoy safe. Despite her efforts, Nurse Betty and a few others die in the attack. Alice is introduced to Claire, and the leaders of the group decide to search for supplies in Las Vegas. At the Umbrella corporation, with the help of a new artificial intelligence computer, they are able to pick up Alices location based on the use of her power. Dr. Isaacs orders a crate of super zombies, created from cloned Alices blood, to be transported to the convoys destination against Albert Weskers wishes. The convoy meet with the new zombies and a battle between them ensue. Mikey is killed along with a large portion of the convoy in the fight, while L.J. turns into a zombie and bites Carlos before being shot down. Once Umbrella sees Alice is in position, they attempt to "shut her down" and control her actions. She resists the attempt and continues to come for Isaacs, getting to his location just as he slips away in a helicopter. She refrains from shooting the helicopter in order to later use it as transport to Alaska. The remaining members of the convoy head towards the Umbrella facility, using Carlos to detonate dynamite to get through the crowd of zombies. After the explosion, the group move in through the opening made by the now dead Carlos and depart on the helicopter. Alice stays behind, however, planning to exact her revenge on the Umbrella corporation. Dr. Isaacs has since been bitten by a super zombie and mutated into a monster, the Tyrant. After Weskers orders to have him killed had failed, Isaacs went on to kill all the employees in the facility. The artificial intelligence computer had managed to trap Isaacs in the lower levels and instructs Alice that she must pass through there to create a cure. Alice heads down, seeing a clone of herself still in a vegetative state. She better examines it, but Isaacs interrupts, attacking Alice before fleeing when she stabs him with a khukri knife. The clone then awakens, seemingly dying in Alices arms. She covers the clone in her coat and leaves after Isaacs. In the replica of the Spencer Mansion, a battle between Isaacs and Alice ensues, both displaying use of telekinesis. When the fight is taken to a replica of the laser room, Alice informs him that they are both to die there when the lasers activate. The lasers cut Isaacs into pieces in the same fashion as the character One in Resident Evil, and just as Alice is about to meet the same fate, the lasers dissipate. The clone of Alice is shown to be the one who turned off the lasers.

D-Day 60 years later. A trip to Normandy, part-1 || Part 1 of a short video-report of a trip, my brother, his wife and I took to Normandy in june 2004. It was the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings and we took an authentic ww-2 Willys jeep and a Harley Davidson Liberator with us. We made the trip from the north of the Netherlands to Courseulles-sur-mer in France, in three days. Stopping off in Belgium and at Batterie Todt. This is part of the Atlantic Wall defences and has a campingsite direct next to the bunker. Inside this bunker, which used to house an enormous coastal gun, is a very nice museum. We went from there to Cape Gris-Nez where we looked at some german bunker installations. From there we went to our final destination, Courseulles-sur-mer.
