Resident Evil Extinction || Resident Evil Extinction is the BEST movie I have seen in a very long time! When I saw the trailer I was like "I am going to see this movie the day and minute it goes in theaters." in which I did and it was AWESOME! After the Raccoon City Incident in 2002, the T-Virus escaped containment despite the nuclear destruction of the city. The Umbrella Corporation desperately tries to stop it from turning the entire worlds population into zombies, but after a series of viral outbreaks over the past 5 years, the world is on the verge of extinction. Alice (Milla Jovovich), Umbrellas greatest Bio-Organic Weapon, is now alone in the desert wastelands of the remains of the United States after learning that the corporation has the ability to track her location via satellite. She has super-human strength and psycho-kinetic abilities gained from her brief imprisonment by Umbrella, and because of her ability to bond with the T-virus, the corporation seeks to develop a permanent cure/vaccine to the T-Virus to save what is left of humanity. Under the orders of Umbrella chief Albert Wesker, Dr. Sam Isaacs attempts to create a cure without Alice, using clones created from her blood; the clones endure tests within a re-created Spencer Mansion, but none survive. After Alice has a brief run in with zombie dogs, she leaves for a gas station near the ruins of Las Vegas and finds a journal detailing a route to Alaska where the infection is suspected to be almost non-existent. Meanwhile, Claire Redfields (Ali Larter) convoy, which includes fellow Raccoon survivors Carlos Oliveira (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors K-Mart (Spencer Locke), Mikey (Egan) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti), search a small motel for supplies. L.J. is bitten, but does not tell Nurse Betty who checks his other wounds. The next morning a horde of infected crows begin to attack the convoy and just as it seems Carlos is about to meet his end, Alice arrives. She uses her telekinesis to utilize the flamethrower and blankets the sky in fire while also keeping the convoy safe. Despite her efforts, Nurse Betty and a few others die in the attack. Alice is introduced to Claire, and the leaders of the group decide to search for supplies in Las Vegas. At the Umbrella corporation, with the help of a new artificial intelligence computer, they are able to pick up Alices location based on the use of her power. Dr. Isaacs orders a crate of super zombies, created from cloned Alices blood, to be transported to the convoys destination against Albert Weskers wishes. The convoy meet with the new zombies and a battle between them ensue. Mikey is killed along with a large portion of the convoy in the fight, while L.J. turns into a zombie and bites Carlos before being shot down. Once Umbrella sees Alice is in position, they attempt to "shut her down" and control her actions. She resists the attempt and continues to come for Isaacs, getting to his location just as he slips away in a helicopter. She refrains from shooting the helicopter in order to later use it as transport to Alaska. The remaining members of the convoy head towards the Umbrella facility, using Carlos to detonate dynamite to get through the crowd of zombies. After the explosion, the group move in through the opening made by the now dead Carlos and depart on the helicopter. Alice stays behind, however, planning to exact her revenge on the Umbrella corporation. Dr. Isaacs has since been bitten by a super zombie and mutated into a monster, the Tyrant. After Weskers orders to have him killed had failed, Isaacs went on to kill all the employees in the facility. The artificial intelligence computer had managed to trap Isaacs in the lower levels and instructs Alice that she must pass through there to create a cure. Alice heads down, seeing a clone of herself still in a vegetative state. She better examines it, but Isaacs interrupts, attacking Alice before fleeing when she stabs him with a khukri knife. The clone then awakens, seemingly dying in Alices arms. She covers the clone in her coat and leaves after Isaacs. In the replica of the Spencer Mansion, a battle between Isaacs and Alice ensues, both displaying use of telekinesis. When the fight is taken to a replica of the laser room, Alice informs him that they are both to die there when the lasers activate. The lasers cut Isaacs into pieces in the same fashion as the character One in Resident Evil, and just as Alice is about to meet the same fate, the lasers dissipate. The clone of Alice is shown to be the one who turned off the lasers.

But given her perceived attachment to the Clintons—Bill, she famously once called Americas first black president; and Hillary she has been close to in the past—we thought it worth printing in full the letter of endorsement she sent to the Illinois senator, as released by the Obama campaign: Dear Senator Obama, This letter represents a first for me--a public endorsement of a Presidential candidate. I feel driven to let you know why I am writing it. One reason is it may help gather other supporters; another is that this is one of those singular moments that nations ignore at their peril. I will not rehearse the multiple crises facing us, but of one thing I am certain: this opportunity for a national evolution (even revolution) will not come again soon, and I am convinced you are the person to capture it. May I describe to you my thoughts? I have admired Senator Clinton for years. Her knowledge always seemed to me exhaustive; her negotiation of politics expert. In thinking carefully about the strengths of the candidates, I stunned myself when I came to the following conclusion: that in addition to keen intelligence, integrity and a rare authenticity, you exhibit something that has nothing to do with age, experience, race or gender and something I dont see in other candidates. That something is a creative imagination which coupled with brilliance equals wisdom. It is too bad if we associate it only with gray hair and old age. Or if we call searing vision naivete. Or if we believe cunning is insight. Or if we settle for finessing cures tailored for each ravaged tree in the forest while ignoring the poisonous landscape that feeds and surrounds it. Wisdom is a gift; you cant train for it, inherit it, learn it in a class, or earn it in the workplace--that access can foster the acquisition of knowledge, but not wisdom. When, I wondered, was the last time this country was guided by such a leader? Someone whose moral center was un-embargoed? Someone with courage instead of mere ambition? Someone who truly thinks of his countrys citizens as "we," not "they"? Someone who understands what it will take to help America realize the virtues it fancies about itself, what it desperately needs to become in the world? Our future is ripe, outrageously rich in its possibilities. Yet unleashing the glory of that future will require a difficult labor, and some may be so frightened of its birth they will refuse to abandon their nostalgia for the womb. Allen Iverson 2001 Allstar Game MVP 25pts 5 assists 5 steals || This may be the moment we look back on as the exact time and place where Allen Iverson finally got it. The mercurial superstar of the Philadelphia 76ers had just been named Most Valuable Player of the 50th NBA All-Star Game. He had just led the Eastern Conference to the greatest comeback in All-Star annals and was physically spent. Iverson was just miles from his hometown, minutes from his alma mater and in front of dozens of friends and family. There were a million emotions tugging at a very emotional man. Oh, yeah, did we mention that Iverson was standing right next to NBA commissioner David Stern? Iverson has been called on to Sterns carpet several times, including twice this season. Davids not exactly one of Allens homeboys. And when Stern offered a nice little pun about Iversons rap music, it was as if Iverson didnt even hear him. As Stern handed him the MVP trophy, all Iverson could think of was one thing when he was asked to speak. "Wheres my coach at?" he asked. "Wheres Coach Brown?" It was a nice touch by Iverson to seek out Larry Brown, his coach for the past 3 1/2 seasons. For a player often described as selfish and immature, it was a giant step toward superstardom. "Its special, and its a tribute to my coach and my teammates," said Iverson. "Ive always felt that whether these guys know it or not, kids watch them and want to be like them and today was the greatest thing for basketball," Brown said. "There were so many lessons to be learned, from him in what hes accomplished." It was a moment about a million miles removed from Iversons rookie year, when Charles Barkley called him "Me-myself-and-Iverson." It has been a long and bumpy road for Brown and Iverson. When Brown took over the 76ers in 1997, he was inheriting the NBAs problem child, a trigger-happy gunner with no respect for authority. There have been countless clashes. Over shot selection, which Iverson still is learning. Over defense, which Iverson once considered an afterthought. Over playing time, which Iverson wants at all times. Over practices, which Iverson long considered optional. This summer, the 76ers considered exiling Iverson to the Los Angeles Clippers. Maybe that was the moment. Iverson promised to improve his attendance at practice and be more understanding of Brown. He even asked for the captaincy to show his commitment. Yeah, sure, Allen. Well believe it when we see it. But a funny thing happened this season. Iverson came to practice all the time. His shot selection and decision-making improved. He dug in on defense harder than ever before. And the Sixers started winning. A lot. They won their first 10 games and have never really slowed down, despite a series of debilitating injuries. As they enter the stretch run, their 37-13 record is in the best in the NBA. "I think you see in him, like you do in a lot of players, as they mature in the league off the floor, they mature on the floor," said Sacramento Kings coach Rick Adelman, who watched Iverson dismantle his Western Conference All-Stars in the fourth quarter. "They understand what it is all about. Allen seems to have done that." No one ever has doubted Iversons skills or his competitiveness or his toughness. It is what has stamped his game with superstar quality. But there is more to being a superstar than playing at a level where your skill and desire are unmatched by anyone on the court. It also is determined by how you carry yourself off the court. Iverson has no plans to unbraid his cornrows, surgically remove his tattoos or give up his secondary dream of being a rap star. But he does seem as if he finally is committed to accepting all of the responsibilities of being a true superstar -- something the NBA desperately needs. "Its going to be beautiful for years to come," Iverson said of his moment. Perhaps Iverson finally does get it, even if we dont quite get him.

While Netherlands opened their Group C campaign with a 3-0 demolition of world champions Italy with a fluency as potent as the total football they invented in the 1970s, France had just one shot on target in a dull 0-0 draw with Romania. The 2006 World Cup runners-up, who share Italys tactical, defensive approach, desperately need a touch of flair to avoid suffering the same fate as their Latin rivals. Maybe we must change our playing style and opt for a quick passing game to destabilise our opponents, France defender William Gallas told reporters. Its important to defend well and not to concede any goals but we must accelerate a bit, he added. We need points, we need to win and to do that we need to take more risks. A draw would place France in an uncomfortable situation before facing Italy in their final group game while a defeat would leave them on the verge of an embarrassing early exit. The Dutch, by contrast, just have to repeat their performance against Italy to make sure of a place in the quarter-finals. They realise, however, that they are nowhere yet. It was a great result and the fans may celebrate but we still have nothing, Wesley Sneijder, who scored a splendid goal against Italy, told reporters. Our goal still is to reach and win the final and therefore we need to stay calm. France are hoping to welcome back captain Patrick Vieira and striker Thierry Henry, who missed the match against Romania with thigh injuries. Midfield inspiration Vieira and Henry, Frances all-time top scorer with 44 goals from 100 internationals, played in a training match against a Swiss regional youth side on Wednesday and could be in the starting lineup. Coach Marco van Basten has no reason to make any changes to a side who gave him an almost perfect performance against Italy. The match with France comes too early for winger Arjen Robben, who is recovering from a groin injury, while defender Mario Melchiot is still struggling with his fitness. My choices will consider the next opponents and also the fitness and form of my players but after the way we played against Italy it is all a very comfortable situation, Van Basten told reporters.
