Spears lawyer — who filed a request to be released from representing the pop star Wednesday — Sorrell Trope, tells Us: "In a normal case when someone shows up with a certified court order saying the kids need to be somewhere else, the police see to it that the order is obeyed. But that is in a normal case." 10:08 p.m.: News helicopters hover over Spears home. Officer Jason Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department told City News Service that Spears appeared to be under the influence of an "unknown substance." 10:50 p.m.: The fire department arrives. Britney Spears hospitalized ( CNN Breaking News ) || LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Pop star Britney Spears remained hospitalized Friday, hours after police were called to her home Thursday night to mediate a custody dispute. Police initially said Spears was taken to a hospital for tests to see if she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs and for a psychological evaluation after the situation at her home, but Officer April Harding said Friday she could not confirm that or other reports that Spears was hospitalized for mental evaluation. "For her own welfare, she was transferred to a local hospital for medical treatment," Harding said, according to The Associated Press. On Friday morning, lawyers representing Spears and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, spent about 30 minutes in chambers Friday with Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon, who has been handling the couples custody dispute, the AP reported. The attorneys did not comment to reporters. Spears appeared to be conscious as she was rolled out of her Studio City home on a gurney about three hours after police and ambulances arrived there Thursday night. According to the AP, officers were called to Spears house around 8 p.m. to respond to a custodial dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline over their sons, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, Officer Jason Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department said. By about 10:30 p.m., six police cars, two ambulances and a fire truck had entered the gated community that includes Spears house. Several police cars were seen in the area earlier in the night. Spears turned over the children around 10:50 p.m., Lee said. The ATC tapes, released by the Canadian Press, have not been made public since the 1998 crash that killed 229 people. The tapes contain hours of recording including the final dramatic 12 minutes of the flight before the aircraft plunged at high speed into St. Margarets Bay, N.S., near Halifax. "Swissair one eleven is declaring pan pan pan we have smoke in the cockpit," one pilot said. "Pan pan pan" means there is an emergency on board the aircraft, but that there is no immediate danger. Later, another said, "We are declaring emergency now" (this can be heard on part four of the audio link to the right). They were told they could commence the fuel dump, discussed altitude and the approach to Halifax airport with air traffic controllers. They were asked to advise when it was complete. There was one last garbled "hello," then presumably electrical failure cut off communications. About six minutes after the last transmission, everyone was dead. The MD-11 aircraft left New York for Geneva on Sept. 2, 1998. The aircraft smashed into the dark water off Peggys Cove at 10:31 p.m. Atlantic Time at an estimated 550 kilometres an hour, killing everyone onboard and shattering the plane into literally millions of tiny fragments. The impact of the jet hitting the water made seismographic needles in Moncton and Halifax flutter as if an earthquake had struck. Vic Gerden, chief investigator into the crash, said families of the victims have not yet heard the audio although they were briefed extensively at the time of the disaster. "I dont recall them having the opportunity to listen to the tapes, Gerden, who retired last year, told the Canadian Press from Winnipeg. Some family member predicted the tapes would be hard to hear, even after so many years. "These things bring an event back to people, the family members, whove put a lot of time and distance between the crash ... and their losses, Miles Gerety, who lost his brother Pierce in the crash, told the Canadian Press from his home in Redding, Conn. "I think it would be hard to hear. After the crash, the Transportation Safety Board refused to release the ATC audio, saying it contained personal information. John Reid, then Canadas information commissioner, initially supported the refusal. "In my view, the voices, along with the tonal and emotive characteristics, constitute personal information of three air traffic controllers and the two pilots, he ruled in 1999. Reid eventually reversed on his decision after he received complaints about the boards refusal to release audio from four other air disasters. He fought the board and Nav Canada all the way to the Supreme Court, which eventually ruled the transmissions should be released to the public. Some family member predicted the tapes would be hard to hear, even after so many years. "These things bring an event back to people, the family members, whove put a lot of time and distance between the crash ... and their losses, Miles Gerety, who lost his brother Pierce in the crash, told the Canadian Press from his home in Redding, Conn. "I think it would be hard to hear. After the crash, the Transportation Safety Board refused to release the ATC audio, saying it contained personal information. John Reid, then Canadas information commissioner, initially supported the refusal. "In my view, the voices, along with the tonal and emotive characteristics, constitute personal information of three air traffic controllers and the two pilots, he ruled in 1999. Reid eventually reversed on his decision after he received complaints about the boards refusal to release audio from four other air disasters. He fought the board and Nav Canada all the way to the Supreme Court, which eventually ruled the transmissions should be released to the public. PLANE CRASH at PONCA CITY AIRPORT - CLIP 1 of 2-----3-1-07 || This is one that has been requested quite a bit so here it is. The plane crash at Ponca Cities airport back in March of this year. The plane lost power coming in and struck a car traveling east on the Hartford extension and the plane bounced off the car and hit the chainlink fence surronding the airport. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony welcome twins || Hello Im Rebecca Field with todays UPI entertainment update on this Friday, February 22, 2008. Its a girl...and a boy for Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. Lopezs manager tells People magazine the couple welcomed twins early this morning. Lopez gave birth at a New York hospital...the girl came first weighing five pounds seven ounces followed by her brother at six pounds. Theres now word on names yet. Lopez and Anthony are apparently thrilled. Singer Aaron Carter has been arrested for drug possession. TMZ.com says the singer was pulled over yesterday in Texas for speeding...thats when authorities apparently found marijuana in his car. Officials say 20 year old Carter, whos also the brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, will be arraigned in court later today. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitts adoption of Pax has been approved. The actresss rep says an LA court approved the adoption of 4-year-old Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt yesterday. Jolie traveled to Vietnam last year to greet her new addition and bring him back to the U.S. Pax joins big brother Maddox and sisters Zahara and Shiloh. A federal judge is extending the temporary restraining order on Britney Spears friend Sam Lutfi. Court papers show it will be extended through March 17...barring Lutfi from getting within 250 yards of Spears. The pop stars dad, who is the co-conservator of her fortune apparently asked the court for the extension. The temporary restraining order was set to expire today. Spears family alleges Lutfi controls the singers life. Last nights Premios Lo Nuestro Awards honored some of the best in Latin music. Aventura lead the way winning four trophies including best album and song of the year. Puerto Rican star Olga Tanon also did well taking home three awards including a lifetime achievement honor. Ricky Martin won for best pop album of the year and Ivy Queen grabbed urban genre album of the year. Thats all for now.
