Steve Davis wins World Snooker Championship 1984 (Part 1) || Steve Davis led Jimmy White 12 frames to 4 after the first day of the Embassy World Championship final in 1984. Jimmy White showed himself a fierce competitor and clawed his way back to 17-16. After having lost the previous frame by a marvellous clearance by White, Davis looked to be struggling. In the end its a visibly relieved Steve Davis that manages to fall over the line. This is the first part of the 34th and final frame. Ronnie OSullivan makes a 147 at the UK Championship 2007 || Ronnie OSullivan makes a 147 at the UK Championship 2007. ----------------------------------- Selby led 3-0, with runs of 74 and 99, and 4-1 before "The Rocket" reduced his deficit to 5-3 after the first session. Selby went 6-3 up before OSullivan had breaks of 75 and 76, but a 65 put Selby 7-5 ahead before OSullivan hit back. He reeled off three straight frames to edge ahead only for Selby to level, but OSullivan sealed it in stunning style. It was his eighth maximum break in competition, equalling Stephen Hendrys record. OSullivan will now play Stephen Maguire in Sundays final as he targets a fourth UK title. "My snooker wasnt great, but Ive cheated in a way," he said. "Weve played 16 poor frames, but everyone is going to talk about the 147. "I took a shortcut. Id much rather have won 9-3 and played a solid game of snooker, but at least Ive given the crowd something to smile about. "He had the upper hand, hes a tough player and a tough competitor. I was losing it midway at 6-3 down, I was struggling out there, but I had to find a way of staying focused." OSullivan revealed he did so by counting spots on the side of a spoon. "There were 108 dots on either side, and I was counting them in twos and threes," he explained. "It was my little mental exercise. "I thought at 8-8 Ive got my chance. Im going to go out in a blaze of glory here. "I felt the butterflies which was nice. I was on a break of 40 and the balls opened up really nice. It was a really special way to finish the match." Selby, who lost to John Higgins in this years World Championship final after an epic comeback, was not too downcast despite the defeat. "Im a little bit disappointed because I felt I controlled the match all the way through," he said. "But the turning point came at 7-5 when I had a good chance and after that the match changed around. Snooker Ronnie OSullivan 147 break UK Championship 15.12.07 || "It was nice to give the crowd something to cheer about at the end," said OSullivan. "This is a great venue and a great tournament but my snooker tonight was not great, it was so poor. I played 16 poor frames but everyone now will be talking about the 147 so I feel like Ive cheated, or taken a short cut. Id rather have won 9-3, playing solid and not making any unforced errors. "The first black in the 147 was a blind shot but it wasnt as hard as it looked. It was 8-8 and I felt like I wanted to get something out of the game, to go out in a blaze of glory. Once I got to 40 I decided to go for it, and I felt a few butterflies which was good. "Its nice to get to eight 147s, Id like to get to double figures, maybe get one at the Masters and at Sheffield and make four this season. "Mark had the upper hand for most of the match, hes a tough competitor, you dont get to a world final otherwise. At 6-3 I was losing it, really struggling. There was no fluency, no power or finesse in my shots. I was a foot out on some of my positional shots." As for the match with Maguire, OSullivan added: "Stephen said in an interview that hes been watching me and noticed Im giving away chances. Hes right, and only a few people would recognise that. Ive been playing quickly and scoring ok, which has camouflaged the fact that Im making a lot of mistakes. The bookmakers will make me favourite for tomorrow but Id make Stephen favourite. If I play like I did today Ill get beaten because Stephen is a winner." Selby said: "It was a brilliant end to the match. Ive had a good week and I wouldnt change anything.
