Britney Spears hospital stay extended || Hello, Im Rebecca Field with todays UPI entertainment update on this Monday, February 4, 2008. Britney Spears hospital stay has been extended. Sources say the pop star is under a 14 day hold at the psychiatric ward. She was originally only supposed to stay 72 hours. People magazine says the only reason for the extension would be if the singers psychiatrist recommended it. Spears could get an early release only if her doctor approves it or if she legally demands it. Former American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee is now a married woman. The 23 year old singer tied the knot with 42 year old producer Nick Cokas on Saturday in Beverly Hills. The two met in 2005 when they performed in a Los Angeles play together. They started as friends and then it blossomed into more. Teen girls are going wild over the new "Hannah Montana" concert movie. Miley Cyrus film documenting her "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" took the number one spot a U.S. theaters over the weekend...bringing in an estimated 29 million dollars in ticket sales. In the second spot is "The Eye" starring Jessica Alba. Landing in third is the romantic comedy "27 Dresses" starring Katherine Heigl. There was an all-star lineup of entertainment at yesterdays super bowl game. Grammy Award winning artist Alicia Keys riled up football fans, performing before the game started. 18 year-old "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks sang the national anthem. And Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers took the stage at halftime. They sang several of their hits including "American Girl" and "Free Fallin." The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots last night, 17 to 14. Tori Spelling is going to be a mom for the second time. E! News confirms she and her husband Dean McDermott are expecting. The former "Beverly Hills 90210" star is apparently already in her second trimester. Theres no word yet on a due date or the sex of the baby. Silky at Banbury Kill for a Seat Comedy Club || Silky Liverpudlian-in-exile Silky has been a full time comedian since 1997. He did his first gig in 1994, and his fourth gig (the final of the 1995 BBC New Comedy Awards alongside Lee Mack, Daniel Kitson and Julian Barratt) was shown on BBC1s Stand-Up Show. Other awards he has failed to win include the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year (prize-winning runner-up 2000), the Liverpool Echo Arts and Entertainment Award (the only person to be nominated twice: always the sodding bridesmaid), the Perrier Best Newcomer (not even nominated for that one), the Time Out Award (didnt get entry form in on time), the F.A. cup (not a football team), numerous Academy Awards, and so on. The list gets longer every day. He did, however, win the 2000 BAF Out There award for Artistic Courage, for a show at the Bakewell Arts Festival, where they were genuinely expecting folk music. Silky has performed internationally, including gigs in China, the Philippines, the Gulf, Singapore, the US, the Melbourne Comedy Festival, and all over Europe, including at the Glastonbury Festival, where no-one lobbed bottles of wee, much to his relief. He performed at the 2004 Gods Kitchen Global Gathering, the 2005 Big Bang at Santa Pod, and in the houseband for the Kilkenny Festival. He is also the evil mastermind behind the Kill for a Seat Comedy clubs across the UK, and has performed with the Comedy Stores MEN at Work satirical team and Monkey Lab Improv. A tall, versatile, funny and very likeable performer, whether you need an MC, an extended set, or simply something down from the top of a cupboard... Silky headlined the inaugural Frampton Mansell comedy festival, the worlds smallest. He acted in All Shorts for Club West (winners of the coveted Spirit of the Fringe award), and presented WorldArt Medias TV Stage in Princes Street Gardens for Telewest. He compered the Big Value Comedy Show at the 2003 Edinburgh Fringe (**** Edfringe.com), the final of the FHM Com and has played from Manila to Berlin, Belfast to Prague, Shanghai to Croydon, but hes never been to me, and actually enjoys making people laugh. Indoor work with no heavy lifting? Lovely. In Winter 2003 he headlined his own 30-date tour of the UK and Ireland as an exercise in humility, and is doing so again this year. He acted in a pilot for SO TV that was bought for broadcast by Disney, and will never show the tape as Bee Costumes are involved. Hurrah for Cancer - Andre Vincent was Unwell: Part 1 || Cancer is the modern-day bogeyman. Its so scary that some people dont even like to say the word, let alone have a laugh about it. But when comedian André Vincent was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney in March 2002, all he could think about was the potential for some really great stand-up material. André decided to include cancer in his act and, judging from the responses of some of his audience, found comedy to be an interesting way to tackle such a taboo subject. Hurrah For Cancer is an intimate, positive and humour-filled personal take on living with the disease. Following André from diagnosis to treatment, it is essentially about the old adage that if you laugh at the bogeyman, hes not nearly so scary. Andre Vincent biog: ACTOR, WRITER, COMEDIAN AND QUITE SURPRISINGLY ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL Andre Vincent was born May 1964 in Woolworths Department Store Penge, and has not stopped appearing in the most unusual of places since. He started his career as a professional show-off at an early age, becoming a star struck stage brat, working when any theatre company needed a street urchin, a herald or a small child to up-stage everyone. He then became a boy chorister, to the delight of his family whose dream was for him to follow his grandma into the world of opera and become a top class tenor. Unfortunately for his family he followed the career path of another relative, his great-grandfather, who was an acrobat on the olde variety stage. So when young Andre stopped singing, due to his voice breaking, he went back to the boards and spent most of his time there arguing with theatre directors that Hamlet could indeed be fat. Disheartened by this small-mindedness, he packed up his greasepaint and ran away to the circus. After a quick stint of training in Paris and with a backpack full of equipment, Andre started travelling the world entertaining the masses at circus and theatre festivals everywhere. With skills in abundance and his unique style of improvisation, he has performed in strange places from a bullring in Columbia to a baseball stadium in Nova Scotia to Vietnamese refugee camps in the South China Sea. With all this moving about, Andre had to think about where his career was going when he found himself working at Disney World Florida at the end of ë88. Mask work and regimented smiling were really not his forte. A friend tried to change his sad demeanour by taking him to a comedy club in Orlando and three hours later a new chapter opened in his life. He kept returning to the club, speaking to comics and schmoozing the management, and within a few months he was on the road compering at small stand-up clubs in the southern states of America. His apprenticeship in Georgia and Alabama was good enough in the eyes of his peers to get gigs in other states of the U.S. and the pinnacle of this work was opening for Bob Hope in Columbus, Ohio in 1992. With his head swelling and his tongue tripping one-liners, he returned home to conquer the comedy circuit of the U.K., and in no time at all established himself as one of the top stand-ups in the country today. His individual style has taken him across the scope of the performance medium: a Saturday night show on Channel 4, three sell-out runs at the Edinburgh festival, countless radio shows, presenter of two award-nominated television programmes, a regular face on daytime panel games and even an appearance as himself on the childrens drama Byker Grove. Hurrah for Cancer - Andre Vincent was Unwell: Part 2 || Cancer is the modern-day bogeyman. Its so scary that some people dont even like to say the word, let alone have a laugh about it. But when comedian André Vincent was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney in March 2002, all he could think about was the potential for some really great stand-up material. André decided to include cancer in his act and, judging from the responses of some of his audience, found comedy to be an interesting way to tackle such a taboo subject. Hurrah For Cancer is an intimate, positive and humour-filled personal take on living with the disease. Following André from diagnosis to treatment, it is essentially about the old adage that if you laugh at the bogeyman, hes not nearly so scary. Andre Vincent biog: ACTOR, WRITER, COMEDIAN AND QUITE SURPRISINGLY ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL Andre Vincent was born May 1964 in Woolworths Department Store Penge, and has not stopped appearing in the most unusual of places since. He started his career as a professional show-off at an early age, becoming a star struck stage brat, working when any theatre company needed a street urchin, a herald or a small child to up-stage everyone. He then became a boy chorister, to the delight of his family whose dream was for him to follow his grandma into the world of opera and become a top class tenor. Unfortunately for his family he followed the career path of another relative, his great-grandfather, who was an acrobat on the olde variety stage. So when young Andre stopped singing, due to his voice breaking, he went back to the boards and spent most of his time there arguing with theatre directors that Hamlet could indeed be fat. Disheartened by this small-mindedness, he packed up his greasepaint and ran away to the circus. After a quick stint of training in Paris and with a backpack full of equipment, Andre started travelling the world entertaining the masses at circus and theatre festivals everywhere. With skills in abundance and his unique style of improvisation, he has performed in strange places from a bullring in Columbia to a baseball stadium in Nova Scotia to Vietnamese refugee camps in the South China Sea. With all this moving about, Andre had to think about where his career was going when he found himself working at Disney World Florida at the end of ë88. Mask work and regimented smiling were really not his forte. A friend tried to change his sad demeanour by taking him to a comedy club in Orlando and three hours later a new chapter opened in his life. He kept returning to the club, speaking to comics and schmoozing the management, and within a few months he was on the road compering at small stand-up clubs in the southern states of America. His apprenticeship in Georgia and Alabama was good enough in the eyes of his peers to get gigs in other states of the U.S. and the pinnacle of this work was opening for Bob Hope in Columbus, Ohio in 1992. With his head swelling and his tongue tripping one-liners, he returned home to conquer the comedy circuit of the U.K., and in no time at all established himself as one of the top stand-ups in the country today. His individual style has taken him across the scope of the performance medium: a Saturday night show on Channel 4, three sell-out runs at the Edinburgh festival, countless radio shows, presenter of two award-nominated television programmes, a regular face on daytime panel games and even an appearance as himself on the childrens drama Byker Grove.
